1. What is your cancellation Policy?

If you must cancel your reservation, please remember that your $750 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable within 120 days of the retreat. If you cancel 120 days before the retreat we will try and fill your spot with someone from the waitlist. If we do fill your spot, we will reimburse $650. $100 is non-refundable. If we cannot fill your spot, your deposit will not be returned.

If you cancel more than 90-120 days prior to your retreat start date and we cannot fill your spot you will forfeit the non-refundable deposit made to hold your space. If you cancel between 30-90 days prior to your retreat start date, 50% of the trip price will be forfeited. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to your retreat start date, 100% of the trip price will be forfeited. It is your responsibility to read and understand our cancellation policies. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits will be given for failure to attend or failure to complete the retreat, or for arriving late or leaving early.

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND purchasing your own travel/trip cancellation insurance so your trip fees will be covered in case you have to cancel your retreat. 

Knit and Escape reserves the right to make any changes deemed necessary by our team or partners. In the rare case of a cancellation or postponement on the part of Knit and Escape (due to political unrest, global health crisis, national travel restrictions, dangerous weather, or insufficient sign-ups) we will offer a transfer to another retreat. In the case of postponement we will reimburse down payments (should the dates conflict with other engagements) up to 14 days after notifying participants via email.

2. When and how do I pay for my Knit and Escape retreat? 

The first step is to pay your non-refundable $750 deposit via our website (PayPal links on each room page), which reserves your spot. Your remaining balance is due 120 days prior to your retreat. You’re welcome to pay for the retreat in full, you’re also welcome to pay us in increments after your deposit has been made, as long as the total retreat amount is paid more than 120 days before the retreat. We’ll contact you after you book to find out how and when you would like to pay the balance.

If you do not pay your balance due by 90 days prior to your retreat, you relinquish your spot. Your deposit will not be refunded.

We accept checks and credit card payment through PayPal only. No cash payments or wire transfers accepted.

IMPORTANT: When you pay via PayPal, your registered email address is the ONLY one we will have on file for you. If your PayPal account is linked to an email address you don’t check often, PLEASE email knitandescape@gmail.com and provide your preferred email address and phone number. Once you register, you will hear back from us within 2 weeks.

3. Do I need to sign anything?

Once you register for a retreat, we’ll send you an orientation packet via email. We’ll include instructions and our Participant Form and link to our Knit + Escape Waiver.

These documents must be completed 120 days prior to your retreat date. Guests who fail to do so may be subject to an automatic cancellation, and the above cancellation policy will apply.

4. Should I purchase travel insurance? 

No one books a retreat with the intention of cancelling, but unexpected life events do occur.

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND purchasing your own travel/trip cancellation insurance so your trip fees will be covered in case you have to cancel your retreat. Trip insurance should also be purchased to cover medical expenses, in the event you have an accident while on the retreat. You can usually add insurance to your airfare when booking flights, or ask your credit card company about trip insurance.

5. What if my retreat gets cancelled?

Knit and Escape reserve the right to cancel retreats with inadequate participant interest, in which case all money paid to Knit and Escape will be refunded. Notification of cancellation will occur at least 90 days prior to your retreat start date. Knit and Escape cannot be held responsible for any personal expenses, such as airline tickets due to changes in itineraries or retreat cancellations.

6. Can I join a waitlist if the retreat or accommodation type I want is sold out?

Absolutely! If the retreat or accommodation type you want is sold out, we will have an option on the check out page to be added to the waitlist. If a spot opens up, we will notify you.

7. Day Visitors

This retreat is limited to registered overnight guests only.

8. Where can I get driving directions for my retreat?

9. Will I have cell phone coverage and wifi on retreat?

Good question. All locations are in places with wifi although the cell service is spotty in Roxbury, NY.

10. Do I have to participate in everything on the schedule? 

You do not need to participate in everything; you can pace yourself to find the perfect amount of instruction or activities for you. Knit and Escape are giving you as much as we can offer, that’s what you signed up for!(Personally, we wouldn’t want to miss a thing.) We will send you the schedule once you book your retreat.

11. What should I pack?

Apart from knitting needles, yarn and a couple of projects, November requires dressing in layers. Wear a sweater (preferably hand knitted), long sleeve shirts, and comfy pants. We will be moving between locations and there is a light walk to the dining/class location
Packing List:

  1. Warm jacket.
  2. Sturdy boots.
  3. A hat.
  4. Notebook and pen.
  5. Hiking socks if you plan to hike around the Stratton Falls waterfall and trails.
  6. Flip flops
  7. Monochromatic dance outfit
  8. Socks for bowling
  9. A smile.

 

12. What temperature should I expect in November?

The temperature in the Catskills typically ranges from 41°F to 56°F and is rarely below 25°F or above 61°F in November or 40°F and 66°F in May.

13. Does the Roxbury have any policies that I should be mindful of?

The Knit + Escape group understands that there may be other guests on the premises not involved with their group. All guests will need to respect the property policies on noise and gatherings in the common areas. The Roxbury Motel, in particular, is situated in a residential, country setting and due to its placement in a valley, sound travels easily.
Groups will therefore not play music at The Roxbury Motel outside after 8:00pm and respect our neighbors’ need for quiet after 8:00pm at night. Groups can gather by the lower level fire pit or other areas on the grounds after 8:00pm at The Roxbury Motel, all need to be cautious of noise levels and respect the signs for the property boundaries. Also, please be aware that spa areas are meant for relaxation and are open to all guests.

14. Can I hike at the Roxbury Stratton Falls location?

Yes, the Stratton Falls waterfalls and hiking trails are open to all Knit + Escape participants. We must adhere to the policies and hours of operation of the trail system at The Roxbury at Stratton Falls. The firepit and outside areas away from the trail system can be used after dark, but noise levels and music must be kept to a minimum after 10:00pm at night.
